Skills Assessment Practice Material

Preparing for your skills assessment test will ensure that your skill sets are accurately evaluated and that you are placed in the appropriate English and/or math course during your first semester of study.

Writing Sample (ACCUPLACER) - Sample Questions and Study Tips

All students writing their Skills Assessments will be asked to write a timed (one hour), 300-word essay response to a writing prompt.

Reading Comprehension (ACCUPLACER) - Sample Questions and Study Tips

You will read different pieces of writing and answer questions based on the content to measure your comprehension.

ACCUPLACER is a suite of tests used by Seneca College to determine your knowledge in math, reading and writing as you prepare to enroll in college-level courses.

Arithmetic and Algebra (ACCUPLACER) - Sample Questions and Study Tips

Arithmetic:This test involves operations with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, percents and problem solving.

Elementary Algebra: This tests your understanding of integers and rational numbers, algebraic expressions, equations, inequalities and word problems.

CAT 3 Level 19 Mathematics (Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering students only) - Sample Questions and Frequently Asked Questions

For Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering Technology students ONLY - Canadian Achievement Test 3rd Edition - CAT3 - Mathematics

This multiple choice test will take 40 minutes.
Note:
Faculty of Information Arts and Technology students do not take this test.

What else do I need to know?

The assessment will last approximately:

  • English testing only - two hours

  • English/Math testing - three hours

Please arrive to the Test Centre at least 15 minutes prior to your examination.
