Seneca works with an external company to dispose of batteries using a method that recycles and reuses all of the components of an alkaline battery sustainably — nothing is sent to landfill. In 2019 alone, Seneca collected 300 kilograms of batteries for safe recycling.
Containers for battery collection are located in high-traffic locations at Newnham and Markham campuses.
Departments may request a two-gallon bin to collect batteries in their office by contacting Paula Echeveste Petrone. If you have a full bin, dispose of it in the large battery drum at Newnham Campus outside the custodial office in Room D1104 or at Markham Campus near the Security Desk.
