Employee Relocation Management

Recognition of Achievement

 

Overview

To acquire and maintain the knowledge and skill required to execute such tasks, Seneca College is offering Employee Relocation Management – CERC Program. These courses are brought to students in partnership with the Canadian Employee Relocation Council (CERC), which was founded in 1982 and remains the leading provider of information and professional education to the relocation industry.

This program would be of interest to those involved in the relocation process such as those employed in or interested in employment as a Human Resource Professional, Relocation Specialist, Global Mobility Professional, or Real Estate Professional. Graduates of this program would achieve the designation of CERC Relocation Specialist (Level I), Canadian Employee Relocation Professional (CERP) (Level II), Canadian Global Mobility Professional (CGMP) (Level III).

This program is designed to meet the education needs of two main groups: Individuals who are new to the employee relocation, human resources and real estate industries and need to acquire new skills and knowledge to become more employable; and those who are currently working in employee relocation, human resources and real estate, but wish to upgrade their skills and knowledge to advance their career.

Introduction to Relocation

This course, Introduction to Relocation is the first course in this series and is a prerequisite to ERM102 and ERM103 for those who wish to go on to obtain the CERP or CGMP designations. This course is intended to broadly cover every aspect of the relocation process and to enhance student's current knowledge. It is ideal for those beginning a career in the relocation profession.

ERM102
Essentials of Domestic Relocation

Prerequisite(s):

ERM101 - Introduction to Relocation

This course will help you develop the necessary skills to establish and administer an effective domestic relocation program that addresses the human dynamics of a move, while meeting the business objectives of the organization. Upon successful completion of ERM101 and ERM102, participants will receive their Canadian Employee Relocation Professional (CERP™) designation. Recertification is required every three years.

ERM103
Essentials of International Relocation

Prerequisite(s):

ERM101 - Introduction to Relocation
ERM102 - Essentials of Domestic Relocation
Membership in CERC

In this level course you will apply the skills learned from domestic relocation to the complexities of international relocation, as well as broaden your appreciation of human dynamics, repatriation, taxation and immigration. ERM103 provides you with the knowledge and tools necessary to manage an effective relocation program for any organization. Upon successful completion of ERM101, ERM102 and ERM103, participants will receive their Canadian Global Mobility Professional (CGMP™) designation. Recertification is required every three years.

Please note: Upon successful completion of ERM101 with a minimum grade of 70%, you will have earned certification as a CERC Relocation Specialist. 

All Employee Relocation Management courses combine theory, practical exercises, and case studies relevant in day-to-day operations. These courses are accredited by the Canadian Employee Relocation Council (CERC), written and taught by industry professionals with real-world knowledge and experience.

Completion

Recognition of Achievement

Upon successful completion of the program requirements, please submit a Request for Recognition of Achievement Form to the Faculty of Continuing Education and Training. There is no cost for this and your Recognition of Achievement will be sent to you electronically.

Faculty Profiles

Tricia Cochran

Tricia Cochran has worked in the relocation industry for more than 20 years with a primary focus on client management, client on-boarding, policy review and transferee satisfaction. As a distance learning facilitator for the three-level relocation management accreditation program offered through Seneca College/Ontario Learn, Tricia is keen to put her years of experience in this exciting field to good use in developing future mobility leaders. She has been teaching the three-level certification program for over 7 years. Additionally, she is an instructor of the 3-part webinar series' RELO 101 - An introduction to relocation and the in-person conference sessions offered annually at the CERC conferences throughout Canada.

Tricia has volunteered on numerous committees with CERC over the years and was also a member of the CERC Board of Directors for 7 years. She currently sits on the Steering Committee for the Subject Matter Expert Program and serves on the Education and Research Committees.

She is currently employed by SIRVA Canada as a Director of Global Account Management and holds the Senior Global Mobility Professional designation from the Canadian Employee Relocation Council (CERC). She also holds the Certified Relocation Professional and Global Mobility Specialist-Talent designations through the Worldwide Employee Relocation Council (WERC).

 

Karla Jensen

Karla Jensen brings over twenty years of innovative and diverse experience as a people leader and strategic business partner with a demonstrated history and proven track record of working in dynamic and fast-changing global environments.

Karla has worked in a variety of industries including information technology, high end retails, and financial services providing strong people transformation and human resources professional skills in employee relations, talent management, employee engagement, policies, and coaching. Karla is passionate about relocations and international assignments since they have always been a part of her overall responsibilities throughout her career, continuously growing, learning, and developing in this key area of the business, and having created to now overseeing globally policies.

As an experienced people professional and global mobility expert, Karla enjoys meeting new people who are also passionate about the people and the importance of successful policy development and oversight.
