In this course, students will acquire an understanding of why investment capital is needed and of its characteristics. They will learn about the sources and uses of capital, how capital is transferred between suppliers and users, and about the financial markets in which securities are traded. They will also learn how the Canadian securities industry is structured, and about the role of banks, insurance companies, investment funds and other organizations in sourcing and supplying capital to its users in the Canadian economy.
