Overview

This online workshop series will introduce students to cannabis from the perspective of patients, family, employer/employee and those in the medical field. Students will examine a comprehensive breadth of subjects pertaining to the cannabis industry, including foundational knowledge on the origin of cannabis, policies relating to its legalization, as well as its implications to the workplace. These workshops also provide an in-depth exploration of cannabis from a medical perspective, specifically its medicinal uses as an alternative therapy as well as the potential benefits and harms of cannabinoid medicines. These interactive workshops are offered online, allowing greater flexibility for those seeking formal training and knowledge on the cannabis industry.

Entry Requirements

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent with:

  • Grade 12 English: ENG4(C) or ENG4(U)

    OR
  • Mature Student Status (age 19 or older) with the above prerequisite course, or the equivalent.

Cannabis 101 - A Beginners Guide

This course provides learners with an opportunity to establish a baseline knowledge of what cannabis is, its origin, how it interacts with the human body and how it is legally accessed. The goal is to give learns a broad, entry-level look across all things cannabis.

This course is targeted at doctors, nurses, healthcare alliance workers as well as managers and supervisors in all businesses and organizations. The recent legalization efforts related to cannabis raises new concerns and requires the development and implementation of policies for today's modern workplace.

Cannabis - Referring Doctor Education

This course provides the basic template for having conversations around medical cannabis with patients in a medical practice environment. As more and more patients have access to information online, it's important that doctors and healthcare practitioners have a basic understanding of medicinal cannabis use as an alternative therapy, including the evidence for its potential benefits and harms.

To give you maximum flexibility, these self-directed workshops are offered online, so you can study independently, on demand, at the time and place that suits you. There are no evaluations or due dates. Each workshop will provide the equivalent of 3 hours of training and knowledge on the cannabis industry.
