Confucius Institute at Seneca College

Opening Ceremonies

Seneca College officially opened the first Confucius Institute in the GTA at Seneca’s Markham Campus on November 24, 2011.

The day included Chinese cultural activities including a tea presentation, Taiji presentation, Taiji Shan performance, calligraphy demonstration, traditional lion dance, and performances from a Chinese quartet from the Multi-Culture & Folk Arts Association of Canada.

The official opening ceremony included representatives from Northeast Normal University, representatives from the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Toronto, Chinese community leaders and entrepreneurs, representatives from various levels of government and Seneca students and staff.
