Meet the 2011 Valedictorians

GOVERNOR GENERAL’S ACADEMIC MEDAL

Joanne McAndrew has been chosen to receive the Governor General’s Academic medal at Seneca College’s convocation taking place on Friday, June 24 at 10 a.m. at the Newnham Campus (1750 Finch Avenue East, Toronto).

The award is bestowed on a student who achieves high academic standing in his or her final year of a full-time post-secondary program.

Joanne holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce and an MBA in Finance and for nearly two decades, she worked as a successful accountant, holding a number of senior positions with well-known companies. Two years ago, she decided it was time for a career change, and a passion for law led her to Seneca’s law clerk program.

She graduates with high honours and has been a permanent fixture on the President’s Honour List throughout her studies. She also won a legal and public administration scholarship from the college based on her academic achievement. This aspiring law clerk also led the Seneca curling team to an Ontario Colleges Athletic Association gold medal.

She is interested in becoming a Law Clerk, specializing corporate or civil litigation.
