Valedictorian Barry Moore

Barry is part of the first graduating class of Social Service Worker students from Seneca’s Yorkgate Campus. While completing his Bachelor’s degree from York University, Barry volunteered in Toronto’s LGBTQ community doing peer support work. He also worked at his university residence, providing support to students adjusting to university life. Through these experiences, Barry discovered his passion for social work and wanted to learn more. Barry was attracted to Seneca’s Social Service Worker program because it could be completed in under two years and involved practical co-op opportunities. While at Seneca, Barry enjoyed the small class sizes and knowledgeable faculty, which encouraged thought-provoking discussion and his own personal growth. The program also strengthened Barry’s interest in activism and anti-oppression theory, both subjects Barry hopes to teach in the future. In the fall, Barry will begin Ryerson University’s Bachelor of Social Work program with advanced standing and hopes to pursue his Master of Social Work.
