Manufacturing and Warehousing - Courses & Workshops

Blueprint Reading

14-week course or shorter workshop

Designed for beginners to elementary blueprint reading, this course also accommodates learners who have some experience. You will learn how to transition to computer-aided designing and become familiar with the various projections, views, title blocks, lines and symbols of dimensioning.

Fundamentals Welding Processes

14-week course or shorter workshop

If you’re interested in welding but have little or no experience, this course will introduce you to basic techniques such as the correct use of oxy-fuel cutting, shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) and torch brazing.

Welding Processes - Advanced

14-week course or shorter workshop

If you have completed the Fundamentals Welding Processes course or have experience in shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), this course will further your skills and training. Content covered includes oxygen acetylene torch operation, metal inert gas (MIG) welding, tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding, and SMAW. The course will also cover common structural shapes, pipe, all-position welding, groove welds, destructive weld testing, shop prints and welding symbols.

CWB Structural Welding All Positions

14-week course or shorter workshop

If you have completed the Fundamentals Welding Processes course or have experience in shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), this course will enhance your understanding of welding, drawings and symbols, and includes practical instruction with test coupons for groove joint plates similar to those used in testing by the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB).

Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

14-week course or shorter workshop

This introductory course covers GD&T — a design-specific manufacturing and inspection language for effective technical communication. Through hands-on learning and theoretical instruction, you will learn the symbols, rules, definitions and terminology for GD&T as outlined by the current industry standards.

Advanced Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing

14-week course or shorter workshop

If you are already familiar with GD&T, this course will expand on your learning by introducing advanced concepts and controls such as runout, profile tolerancing, concentricity and symmetry.

Logistics Systems I

14-week course or shorter workshop

This course will provide you with an overview of the transportation and distribution networks that are integral to successful supply chain logistic systems.

Logistics Systems II

14-week course or shorter workshop

Building upon your knowledge of supply chain logistics systems, this course will cover inventory strategies and methods. This includes equipment and safety requirements for warehousing.

Global Logistics

14-week course or shorter workshop

Building Systems: Practical Overview

14-week course or shorter workshop

This course provides an introduction to building systems so that you can relate to how buildings operate safely, while also considering energy efficiency and environmental concerns.

Heating

14-week course or shorter workshop

In this course you will review the fundamental physics and thermodynamic principals behind heat transfer, the key factors creating heating load in buildings, combustion equipment, hydronic and steam boilers, distribution systems and terminal devices. You will also look at advancing technologies and the properties of water and steam, boiler chemistry and the environmental impact of heating system operations.

Air Conditioning

14-week course or shorter workshop

This course will prepare you to operate a building’s air-conditioning and refrigeration systems in a safe, energy-efficient, economical and environmentally conscious manner.

Controls

14-week course or shorter workshop

Studies in this subject cover the key concepts of commercial building HVAC controls plus the technical side of intelligent buildings and their technologies. Emphasis is placed on automation and smart technologies.
