HELIX Incubator Process

Tomorrow’s businesses are developed here.

HELIX’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Incubator has a two-stage process that provides future entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs with resources and support to develop their innovation mindset or assist in developing their new ventures from ideation through to launch and scaling.

INNOVATION Strand

The entry point and first stage of HELIX’s Incubator is a series of free workshops that assist participants in developing the foundation for their entrepreneurship or intrapreneurship journey. Topics covered include:

  • Ideation
  • Persona
  • Business Model Canvas I and II
  • Customer Validation
  • Pitch Development

Each INNOVATION Strand workshop will be supported by three one-hour labs where participants can engage with HELIX coaches.

Pitch

Upon completion of the INNOVATION Strand, those who have a venture idea can deliver a two-minute persuasive elevator pitch of their concept. Those who want to enter the ACCELERATION Strand of HELIX are required to deliver a pitch.

ACCELERATION Strand

Those who complete the INNOVATION Strand and pitch requirement will move directly into the ACCELERATION Strand. Here participants will receive additional free supports to drive their ventures to the next level. Supports include:

  • coaching/mentorship
  • introduction to seed funding
  • experiential activities
  • incubator space
  • technology
  • networking events
  • links to the broader entrepreneurial ecosystem

Participants in both strands will have access to the HELIX space and its facilities (Room K2010 in the Centre for Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship [CITE] at Newnham Campus). This includes access to the Mike Shaver Innovation Lounge, the Collaboration Forum, workstations, technology, meeting spaces and Maker Space.
