Six tips for new students
Advice before classes start Sept. 4
With September fast-approaching, there is much excitement and some needed planning. To help prepare, here are six things to do before the first week of fall term.
1. Register for Orientation
More than 40 events take place across Seneca's main campuses for Orientation. Some activities like Virtual Orientation on Aug. 29 require online registration, but most are drop-in so students can casually attend events that suit their schedule.
2. Mark important dates in your calendar
Mark your calendar, important academic dates for the Fall 2018 Term can be found online. Make sure you also schedule time to check out academic resources available on-campus (details in this two-minute video).
3. Pay your tuition fees
If you have not already paid tuition for the fall semester, remember that fees are due in full on Tuesday, Sept. 4.
4. Map your route to campus
5. Set up your email
Setting up your Seneca email is key to staying up-to-date on campus activities and new classes. Details on how to set it up, as well as login to My.Seneca, can be found in this three-minute video. Downloading Seneca's App Suite will give you email, timetable and news access on-the-go.
6. Upload a selfie for your student ID
Your student ID, a.k.a OneCard, is used to pay for parking, buy food on campus, print at Seneca Libraries and shop the Bookstore. Every OneCard requires a photo, so follow these instructions to upload a selfie for yours. For a chance to win $250 on your OneCard, share your school pride on social using #SenecaProud during Orientation.
