Seneca students win
Seneca students had impressive showings at four different case competitions that tested their knowledge in the areas of advertising, law, business and accounting.
Grip Limited Juicer Advertising Student Competition
Creative Advertising students won bronze in the Grip Limited Juicer Advertising Student Competition. The annual national advertising contest is hosted by Toronto advertising agency Grip Limited and is designed to test students on their strategic and creative advertising skills. This year, 19 teams from 12 colleges and universities from Ontario and Quebec took part in a case study involving Dare and its “Real Fruit” product line. Representing Seneca were Gianluca Venditti, Tahrell Miller, Chris Pomfret, Josh Levine, Tija Smith and Nicole Rajesky. Since this competition launched three years ago, Creative Advertising students from Seneca have always finished in the top three.
Three teams of Seneca Paralegal students took part in the Osgoode Cup over the weekend. This annual competition, held at Osgoode Hall Law School, gives postsecondary students a chance to take part in an actual legal debate and is judged by legal professionals. In fact, more than 90 teams from universities and colleges from across Canada took part. Seneca’s team of Clifton Yiu and Chris Gould advanced to the finals against McGill University and finished in second place. Clifton was awarded the top advocate award, while Christopher won a best advocate award. Seneca’s other two teams were Grace Lu and Damian Bernacik and Laura Vessey and Jashen So. The College’s participation in this competition was covered in the Law Society Gazette.
National Supply Chain Management Association Case Competition
Students from the School of International Business placed third in the recent National Supply Chain Management Association Case Competition. Kalisfena Timofeeva, Rocio Gainza, Denis Iopel and Desiree Fong finished first among Ontario postsecondary institutions, including several universities. They were coached by Professor Hamid Faramarzi.
