After months of hard work and dedication, Marketing students from the Faculty of Business, placed first overall in the 2018 Ontario Colleges' Marketing Competition (OCMC). This win marks the first time Seneca students have placed first overall since 2006.

The annual competition, hosted this year by Fanshawe College, brings together hundreds of motivated marketing students to showcase their industry talents. During the two-day event, students competed as individuals and teams in 11 events which emulate real-world business challenges.

In addition to ranking first overall, Seneca's team of 20 students, led by professors Scott Campbell, Theresa Seto and many other faculty coaches, was recognized in various areas of the competition.

The team took home two first-place titles: Direct Marketing (Laura Guerrero & Sonny Carmona) and Retail Marketing (Alisha Kassam & Taha Dharamsi). Seneca also placed third in three categories: the Prospect Pitch (Victor Narvaez & David Inglessis), International Marketing (Margo Huen & Rob Alexiou) and Integrated Marketing Communications (Melody Mui & Raymond Acebo).

Students came fifth in Marketing Research (Lisa Bulochnikova & Daniel Goldenberg) and Entrepreneurship (Peter Moore & Daryna Ostapenko). In the Job Interview category, Melody Mui finished in second place. Lastly, student Denniza Garo placed third in the Quiz Bowl.
