SMILE Mentors recognized
The SMILE Mentoring Program recently held their fifteenth annual Mentor Recognition Ceremony at Newnham Campus, celebrating the contributions and commitment of 150 student mentors who joined the program in 2016.
Mentors were presented with a certificate by David Agnew, Seneca President; Laurel Schollen, Vice-President, Academic; Christine Blake-Durie, Dean of Students; as well as the dean of their faculty.
Erin Grant, Bachelor of Aviation Technology graduate and former SMILE Mentor also returned to Seneca for the event to address student mentors. The 2013 Seneca Cup recipient, past valedictorian and current First Officer for Jazz Aviation congratulated the award recipients for their commitment to SMILE and helping first-year students make a successful transition to Seneca.
SMILE is a unique program designed to help new students make the most of their college experience by connecting them with a senior student mentor in their program area who provides support as they transition to Seneca.
