united way campaign

Oct. 11, 2018

Seneca kicked off its 2018 United Way campaign on Tuesday, Oct. 9 with all levels of employees on hand to help with the chili lunch fundraiser, hosted by Advancement & Alumni.

As someone who has worked in the social service sector for most of her career, Professor Jo Gomes of the Social Service Worker (SSW) program shared her story about why she supports United Way. While she has had the chance to see first-hand how people transformed their lives with the support of United Way-funded agencies, "I, in turn, have been able to learn from those experiences in the field to become a skilled teacher in the SSW program," she said. "But most importantly, I gained the understanding that anyone can achieve their full potential with good supportive resources to assist them."

The United Way campaign supports the more than 250 United Way agencies that work in priority neighbourhoods in greater Toronto. It runs until Nov. 24.
