Valerie Lopes, Director of Teaching and Learning, has been recognized with a 2015 College Sector Educator Award from the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education.

Valerie is one of only five educators from across Canada to receive the award, which celebrates individuals who promote and support the development of their peers and teaching excellence at Canadian colleges.

Before becoming the Director of Teaching and Learning, Valerie was a professor in the Centre for Academic Excellence where she provided academic leadership to faculty from across the College, assisting them in the design, revision and updating of their courses. She has also helped countless faculty learn to use and integrate technology tools into their classrooms.
