Challenge Accepted takes over Yonge-Dundas Square

Seneca’s recruitment campaign goes big

Jan. 27, 2022

Bye-bye, Timbiebs. Hello, Challenge Accepted.

Seneca’s award-winning recruitment campaign has officially taken over Toronto’s Yonge-Dundas Square, replacing the popular Timbiebs promotion on the big screens.

“Yonge-Dundas Square..one of the busiest intersections in Canada. Pinch me!” tweeted Eunice Kays Yeboah, one of 10 Seneca graduates featured on six large digital and static billboards in the heart of Toronto’s downtown core.

The third instalment of the Challenge Accepted campaign carries a central theme of “Your goals. Your way.” It highlights flexible learning and the breadth of programming and career options available to students.

To maximize awareness and drive interest with prospective students, Seneca has also strategically placed advertising across the Greater Toronto Area, including subway cars, bus shelters, digital boards, radio, TV and online.

While the campaign has appeared in the Yonge-Dundas Square before, it was on a different board on the south side, above the old Hard Rock Cafe building.

This time, thanks to a rare last-minute (and severely discounted) advertising opportunity, the boards are much bigger — the biggest in Canada. They catch traffic in all directions and will generate an estimated 47 million impressions in just a few weeks. Besides Tim Hortons, other advertisers who have used these boards include Air Transat, Prime Video, PC Optimum and Telus.

The timing couldn’t be more perfect.

“This is a critical point in the domestic recruitment cycle as prospective students are considering postsecondary options for September with the Feb. 1 deadline approaching to receive equal consideration,” said Maria Wallin, Executive Director, Marketing. “It is important for Seneca to stay top of mind during this time. Whether they’re applying or already have an offer, we’re ready to show future students all of the great reasons why Seneca is their best choice.”

Seneca’s Challenge Accepted campaign will run at Yonge-Dundas Square until Sunday, March 6.
