Seneca wins bronze in sustainable development excellence
CICan award recognizes commitment to embed sustainability
A bronze award has been handed to Seneca in the 2021 Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) Awards of Excellence.
This recognition is in the new CICan Excellence in Sustainable Development category, which acknowledges Seneca’s commitment to sustainability as guided by the principles of United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Since establishing the Sustainable Seneca Committee in 2017, Seneca has embraced new ideas and collaborated with students, employees and external community partners on creative solutions to embed sustainability in everything it does — academic programs, services, physical spaces on campus and framework for COVID-19 recovery.
Last year, Don Forster, Senior Manager, Custodial & Support Service, won silver in leadership excellence for his work in sustainability. Seneca also earned silver STARS rating from the Association of Sustainability in Higher Education, which measures the sustainability performance of postsecondary institutions worldwide.
