Seneca student and ambassador Aidan D’Souza has won the Urban Hero award in the Education category, People’s Choice.

Two Senecans have been named to the Star Metroland Media 2020 Urban Hero Awards program.

Aidan D’Souza, a student in the Advanced Investigations & Enforcement graduate certificate program, won the Urban Hero award in the Education category, People’s Choice.

Mr. D’Souza is a student mentor and graduate of the Police Foundations and the 911 & Emergency Services Communications programs. He is also a Seneca ambassador and a Seneca Sting varsity cross-country athlete.

Yusuf Ali, who also played varsity basketball at Seneca and led the Sting to a national championship, won the Urban Hero award in the Sports category, People’s Choice.

Mr. Ali is the head coach of the Toronto Basketball Academy, where he’s giving back to his community of Lawrence Heights by working with the next generation of athletes.

The Urban Hero awards, now in their 11th year, recognize individuals and groups for work, leadership and good deeds in the categories of Arts, Business, Education, Environment, Good Neighbour, Health, Social Issues and Sports.
