IMP graduate wins emerging artist award

Taylor Kurta, a 2013 Independent Music Production (IMP) graduate, is the Grand Prize winner of the RBC Emerging Artist Music Mentorship Prize. Students were asked to submit a 60 second musical audio or video performance of their choice.

As the Grand Prize winner Taylor, who was interviewed on the Globe and Mail website, will receive $25,000 along with performance opportunities, including the chance to perform at Canada’s Walk of Fame events and to open for established artists. She will also receive 20 hours of private studio time at Metalworks Studio, working along side IMP Professor Alfio Annibalini, and with an appointed producer. Rik Emmett and Gil Moore from Triumph will serve as Taylor’s mentors.

In addition, she will receive 10 hours of studio time in The Tragically Hip’s private studio, mentored by Gord Sinclair, and will be introduced to agents, managers, music executives and entertainment lawyers.
