There is only one institution in Ontario that provides veterinarian training: the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph.
All applicants must pass the North American Veterinary Licensing Exam (NAVLE). If the exam is not passed in two attempts, successful completion of the Clinical Proficiency Exam (CPE), a hands-on, practical exam, is required once the NAVLE has been passed (The College of Veterinarians of Ontario).
Veterinarian licences in Ontario are renewed annually. In 2018, 4,878 licences were issued by The College of Veterinarians of Ontario.
