Program and course delivery

This program is offered in Seneca's hybrid delivery format with some courses available in Seneca's flexible delivery format. Some coursework is online and some must be completed in person. Students will need to come on campus to complete in-person learning requirements. For courses offered in the flexible delivery format, professors use innovative learning spaces and technology to teach students in a classroom or lab and broadcast in real time to students attending remotely. In flexible courses, students have the choice of coming on campus or learning online.

About the Program

In Seneca’s Honours Bachelor of Science – Nursing degree program, you will follow a curriculum that provides a diverse and global perspective to prepare you to be one of the health-care leaders of tomorrow with a BScN credential. The curriculum has been designed to meet the entry to practice competencies defined by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and provide a solid base for further study at the graduate level.

This program includes extensive experiential learning that will provide the foundation for the development of nursing knowledge, ethical decision-making, leadership skills and the pursuit of excellence in nursing practice and optimal health outcomes. You will also develop transferable skills such as critical thinking, problem solving and effective verbal and written communication. These skills, along with the strong foundation in nursing, open the doors to many potential employment opportunities, both locally and abroad.

You will also have the opportunity to provide nursing care within a variety of clinical settings. Clinical education is enhanced with focused simulation, which will provide you the ability to practice and refine your clinical reasoning skills.

The new Seneca Nursing Programs (Honours Bachelor of Science – Nursing and Bridge to Honours Bachelor of Science – Nursing) have received preliminary approval from the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). Graduates from these programs are eligible to apply for registration as a Registered Nurse in Ontario. Programs with preliminary approval status will be considered for full approval status after completing a comprehensive review in the academic year following the first class of graduates.

Practical Nursing Diploma to BScN Degree Bridging Pathway

Graduates of an Ontario Practical Nursing diploma program with a minimum graduating GPA of 75 per cent, who have registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), will be eligible to enter the fifth semester (Year 3, Level 5) of Seneca’s Honours Bachelor of Science – Nursing degree after completing a two-semester bridge program (with a final grade of 65 per cent or higher for each bridge course). Students will then complete the degree in four semesters.
