If you are dreaming of participating in the design and creation of the built environment, then this program is for you. In this three-year advanced diploma program, you will study advanced computer software packages, principals of highway, municipal/building design, materials testing, field skills in surveying, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and principles of construction inspection. This program provides an intensive learning experience in year two and three. By the end of your program you will work independently and in teams on capstone projects and technical reports which reflects the culmination of several skills acquired.
As a student of this program, you must achieve an overall GPA of at least 2.5 in your first and second semester with a minimum grade of “C” (60 per cent) in the Strength of Materials course.
This program offers workplace integrated learning available to students starting semester one in September and completing subsequent, second semester in April.
Students meeting all academic requirements may have the opportunity to complete an optional co-op work term(s) in a formal work environment. In most cases the work term(s) is a full-time paid position completed between two academic semesters. In programs with limited co-op opportunities, additional academic requirements and a passing grade on a communication assessment may be required for eligibility. Eligibility for participation does not guarantee a work position will be secured. Additional fees are required for those participating in the optional co-op stream regardless of success in securing a work position.
