This program is offered in person. Students are required to come on campus to attend classes.

About the Program

This 14-week program equips you with the skills and knowledge crucial to producing professional documentary and non-fiction media. You will learn from award-winning filmmakers and industry experts how to shoot, edit, direct and produce meaningful, compelling content.

Throughout the program you will focus exclusively on the point of view of documentary format in which you will experience total immersion in the world of cinema. At the end of the program, you will have the opportunity to premiere your documentary at a gala held at the Toronto Hot Docs Theatre.

The 2024 intake of the DFI program will start on Monday, May 27 and conclude on Thursday, Aug. 29.
