About the Program

ELI 317 will provide you with the foundational knowledge and skills to develop and deliver communicative approach based lessons that demonstrate an understanding of the basic principles and techniques of teaching second/foreign language to adults.

You will receive a minimum of 120 hours of classroom instruction, 14 hours of guided online independent study, 25 hours of guided classroom observation and 10 hours of supervised practice teaching. Successful completion of TESL 1 will entitle you to a Certificate of Standing in Teaching English as a Second/Foreign Language 1 and eligibility to apply for TESL Canada Standard 1 accreditation.
