About the Program

TESL 1 will provide you with the foundational knowledge and skills to develop and deliver communicative approach-based lessons that demonstrate an understanding of the basic principles and techniques of teaching second/foreign language to adults.

You will receive 120 hours of TESL instruction, 14 hours of guided online independent study, 25 hours of guided classroom observation and 10 hours of supervised practice teaching. Successful completion of TESL 1 will entitle you to a Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language-TESL 1, and eligibility to apply for TESL Canada Standard 1 accreditation and TESL Ontario CTESOL Accreditation.
