Program Learning Outcomes

As a graduate, you will be prepared to reliably demonstrate the ability to:

  • Develop, implement and evaluate organizational health and safety policies and practices that adhere to government legislation, regulations and guidelines
  • Develop and facilitate Health and Safety training for workers with the goal of increasing safety and preventing accidents
  • Conduct accident investigations, emergency response plans, injury prevention plans and root cause analysis documentation that follow workplace safety protocols
  • Identify and evaluate biological, physical, chemical, and psycho-social hazards and apply safety systems in the workplace to manage risk.
  • Facilitate and support an effective health and safety program in both non-union and union environments
  • Research existing industry standards, produce reports and provide recommendations for changes for continuing improvement of the health, safety, disability, ergonomic, emergency and environmental management systems
  • Manage human resources in a diverse workplace to facilitate change and policy compliance
  • Communicate effectively using oral, written, and computer information systems to promote a strong internal workplace safety prevention culture
