Your convocation ceremony and credential
In response to the evolving nature of COVID-19 and provincial directives regarding events and mass gatherings, Seneca made the difficult decision to postpone our June convocation ceremonies until it is safe to bring our communities together again. Credentials will be delivered to all graduates in July by UPS courier. If you have questions, or haven’t received your credential by July 31, please email email@example.com
Seneca presents two prestigious graduate awards each year. The Governor General's Academic Medal is awarded to a student who achieves the highest academic standing in their final year of a full-time postsecondary diploma program. The Seneca Cup acknowledges a student’s academic proficiency and their contribution towards improving student life.
Congratulations to this year’s recipients!
Seneca Cup recipient: Mina Sandiford Day
Mina is graduating from the Civil Engineering Technology advanced diploma program and was recognized with a number of leadership and academic awards throughout her studies. This includes the WT Newnham Leadership Award and SSF Leadership Award.
During her time at Seneca, Mina contributed to her academic community by volunteering as the secretary/treasurer for the Seneca Civil Society and organizing a number of social, academic and career-focused events for students. While she was focused on initiating activities that enhanced students’ experiences beyond their program curriculum, Mina also contributed to volunteer efforts in her local community.
In addition to maintaining a full-time academic schedule, Mina worked as a lab monitor at Seneca where she mentored students on engineering practices. She also secured employment in civil engineering-related positions to complement her studies.
Currently, Mina is pursuing a community-focused career in municipal engineering or engineering design. She also hopes to soon start advocacy for queer and trans representation in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
Governor General’s Academic Medal recipient: Saba Naseem
Saba is graduating from the Behavioural Sciences diploma program. Prior to studying at Seneca, she earned her MBA and was working in the corporate world. Personal experience altered her perspective on life, and she decided to pursue a new career that gives back to society.
Throughout her time at Seneca, Saba balanced her studies with family life as she raised two young children. She attributes much of her academic success to the support offered by her husband and family.
Compared to her previous learning environment prior to studying at Seneca, Saba says she was welcomed by the passionate faculty in her program. She notes being encouraged by their dedication to students, open communication and one-on-one interactions.
Moving forward, Saba plans to pursue a master’s degree and board certification in the field of behavioural science and aspires to open a school for children with special needs.
