Michelle Chiba

  • FNT102 – Privacy Management and Identity Theft

 

Bio

Michelle Chibba provides privacy expertise (including staff training) to organizations wanting to modernize their existing privacy or information management approaches. She is the instructor for Seneca’s Privacy Management and Identity Theft course that is part of the Financial Technology program.

Michelle is also a co-instructor along with Dr. Ann Cavoukian for the online course Privacy by Design: The Global Privacy Framework, offered through the Chang School at Toronto Metropolitan University.

As a privacy and information governance consultant, her clients range from large, private sector companies (e.g. TELUS, HPE, LoyaltyOne) to the public and not-for-profit sector (e.g. CBSA, CIC, Ontario provincial agencies). Michelle was recently nominated as Project Editor to the ISO Committee (PC317) for the newly established international standard on Privacy by Design for Consumer Products, ISO 31700. She also serves as Project Editor for the new Privacy by Design section of ISO15944 (Open Electronic Data Interchange and e-business international standard), part of ISO JTC1/SC32.

Michelle was Director, Policy Department and Special Projects at the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario, Canada (IPC). During her 10-year tenure at the IPC, her department was responsible for conducting research and analysis, as well as liaising with a wide range of stakeholders to support Dr. Cavoukian’s leadership role in proactively addressing privacy and technology issues affecting the public, otherwise known as Privacy by Design.

Michelle has more than two decades of experience in strategy development, most of it in the public sector where she was responsible for developing and implementing several strategic policy projects. She received a master’s degree from Georgetown University (Washington, D.C.), with a focus on ethics and international business. She is a frequent speaker on Privacy by Design and emerging data privacy and technology issues, and has written a number of publications on privacy and technology.

 

Anita Chung

Bio

Anita is a risk assessment and securities regulation professional who has specialized knowledge and professional experience within audit and assurance. She has developed and conducted risk assessments in anti-money laundering, counter terrorist financing and sanctions for large financial institutions, as well as designed and tested regulatory procedures under both provincial and federal mandates.

She is designated as a Chartered Professional Accountant in Ontario (Chartered Accountant) and a Certified Fraud Examiner with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. She holds a bachelor of commerce with a major in international relations from the University of Toronto.

Anita's professional career within regulatory and financial services includes experience with PwC Canada, PwC Bermuda, TD Bank Financial and the Canadian Securities Transition Office. She is currently employed by the Ontario Securities Commission, Compliance and Registrant Regulation Branch.

 

Boris Loza

Bio

Dr. Boris Loza is the founder of SafePatrol Solutions and Tego Systems, as well as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). He has worked for IBM Global Services as a Senior System Administrator and for Fidelity Investments as a Principal Information Systems Security Specialist. Boris’ interest in computer security has led him to continue developing products as well as to publish articles and a book. His articles have been featured in hacker's magazines, such as the "original" Phrack and 2600: The Hacker Quarterly. He has contributed more than 40 articles to U.S. industry magazines, such as Usenix ;login:, SysAdmin, Inside Solaris, Inside the Internet and several others.

Boris’ various interests have brought him recognition in a variety of fields. He was a winner at the first international Cyber Security Contest, has published articles in magazines for elite hackers and security professionals, and has written travel articles and developing innovative computer technologies for his private companies. Amid these tasks, Boris always finds time for his true passion — travelling around the world. He is the author of several books and is a scholar of megaliths found in his extensive travel adventures.

 

Neissan Monadjem

Bio

Neissan is a FinTech leader with more than 20 years of experience working with start-ups and technology companies that supply to the financial institution industry in Brazil, the U.S. and Canada. As an awarded innovator, he has occupied multiple C-suite level roles in mobile security and payment systems. A pioneer in Brazil in mobile data collection, banking internet security and prepaid systems, Neissan created HutCash® the first hybrid (loyalty and payment) cryptocurrency used from 2006 to 2015 at the largest fast food global pizza chain.

He presently heads the Blockchain, artificial intelligence and innovation practice at NueBridge Ltd. Prior to that, he was Vice-President of Product and Project Management at Giesecke & Devrient (Canada), CEO of SafeLoyalty (Brazil), Managing Director of Prosisa International (U.S.), CEO of E-Safetransfer S/A and Principal and Founder of NMDesign S/C Ltd. — a Design Studio specializing in information technology product design.

 

Rami Tabbah

Bio

Rami has 28 years of experience leading complex, large-scale UX projects, teams and products. He is driven to shape successful products and services with both superior user experience and measurable business efficiencies. He is exceptionally skilled in taking a product or service from idea to reality, and in transforming and redesigning existing products and services to meet business objectives, KPIs, user needs and user usability performance objectives. He is experienced in introducing the UX practice and innovation, integrating their processes within existing frameworks and leading organizations to higher levels of usability maturity.

Rami has a wide range of knowledge and experience with different types and sizes of businesses, projects and products, channels, user types and technologies. Most of his work was in finance, not-for-profits, health, government, education, software and telecommunications. His clients include TVO, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Alzheimer Society of Canada, Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, Ontario Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labour, CIBC, Shoppers Drug Mart and the Insurance Bureau of Canada. Prior to consulting, he worked for companies such as Fidelity Investments and Nortel Networks.

Rami is an experienced educator who has taught and developed courses for universities and colleges as well as custom workshops for clients covering entrepreneurship, innovation and all aspects of the user experience. He taught at Polytechnique Montreal; the Schulich School of Business; and Sheridan, Seneca and Conestoga colleges. He is also a reviewer of conference papers and ISO standards.

Rami is an entrepreneur participating in a number of start-ups, and he holds a master of engineering in cognitive ergonomics.

Rami served as a member of the executive teams of the Toronto Product Management Association and Toronto Computer-Human Interaction society (TorCHI), as a member of advisory boards at Humber College and Seneca and as a board member of a start-up.

Ramy Taraboulsi

Bio

In addition to being a full-time professor at Seneca, Ramy is responsible for all the day-to-day operations of VeritableSoft Innovations Inc., along with setting up the strategic direction of the company as a board member.

Prior to working for Seneca and VeritableSoft, Ramy held different executive positions including Chairman and CEO at SyncBASE, CIO at the Insurance Bureau of Canada, Vice-President of Internet Strategy and Development at Fidelity Investments, Vice-President of Internet Technology at Merill Lynch and Chief Systems Architect at Mercer Human Resources Consulting. Ramy has also held various directorship positions, and he is currently a director of Autonomicity Games Inc., Global Equity Source Inc., AlphaOmega Reno Construction Inc. and the ESOP Association Canada.

Ramy is a Professional Engineer who holds a master of science in computer science, a master's degree in business administration and he is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Ramy has been practising different forms of martial arts for 35 years, and is currently actively practicing karate and tai chi. He also plays music and enjoys travelling around the world.
