Students who graduate from the Airline Pilot Flight Operations graduate certificate program with the required academic credentials will be offered an interview with Air Georgian.

Candidates who meet Air Georgian’s First Officer pilot criteria, and who successfully complete the interview and all standardized testing and evaluations, may be chosen to become First Officers on the Air Canada Express B1900D fleet.

“Aviation is a dynamic, growing industry and the demand for pilots is higher than it’s ever been,” said Dan Bockner, Vice President, Operations and Security with Air Georgian. “There are only a handful of educators that offer these programs and we are aware of Seneca’s excellence in producing the quality graduates that we need.”

Recognized as a one of Canada’s Top Small to Medium Employers, Air Georgian is experiencing rapid growth as an Air Canada Express partner. The company has been one of Air Canada’s most important sources for pilots for the past two decades and will continue to play a pivotal role in the future.

“This strategic collaboration with Air Georgian provides a direct career pathway for our students,” said Lynne McMullen, Director Business Development for Seneca’s School of Aviation. “It will also help the college gain valuable curriculum ideas that will allow us to continue producing graduates with real-world job experience aligned with industry requirements.”

Air Georgian has been providing aviation services and charter flight solutions for more than 25 years. It became a Tier III partner of Air Canada in 2000, operating as Air Alliance under a CPA. Today its Air Canada Express operations focus on transborder and domestic airline routes and it carries over 550,000 passengers per year for Air Canada from Toronto's Pearson International Airport, Montreal's Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport and Calgary's International Airport across 19 Canadian and US destinations. Alongside its existing operations for Air Canada, Air Georgian also offers aircraft charter solutions, aircraft maintenance, aircraft management and technical aircraft and flight training services to major airlines, corporations and individuals. Air Georgian is an IATA registered airline and recently achieved the coveted ARGUS Platinum Audit Rating along with IS-BAO Stage 2 registration.

Seneca’s Bachelor of Aviation Technology program is the only one of its kind in Canada. It provides a rigorous aviation technology-based curriculum and the application of this theory to aviation. The breadth of knowledge and skills prepares students to operate a complex aircraft in a multi-crew environment, to understand the technologies and human factors that affect the successful operation of an aircraft and to assume the professional responsibility associated with being a commercial pilot. Students also learn about business management, airport operations and planning, and air carrier administration to gain a broad perspective of the aviation industry and ultimately gain access to a greater variety of careers in the industry.
