Anita is a Toronto-based actor, director, teacher and dramaturge. Her teaching focuses on integrating voice, body and spirit to assist performers in creating authentic and dynamic work on screen and stage. Her recent directing credits include snug harbor (Toronto Fringe and Santa Fe Solo Performance Festival), The Witch of Edmonton (York University), The Burning Bush (Young Centre for Performing Arts, NYC Frigid Festival, Vancouver Chutzpah Festival) and Igor Stravinsky’s A Soldier’s Tale (SummerWorks). As an actor Anita has worked in many regional theatres across Canada including Centaur Theatre, Imago Theatre, Drayton Entertainment, Banff Centre, Thousand Islands Playhouse and the Lighthouse Festival; she also works extensively in independent theatre in Toronto. Anita has appeared in numerous films, TV series and MOWs, was host of the TVO documentary series Future Tense and spent 4 years as a series regular on Gene Roddenberry’s Earth: Final Conflict (Gemini Award Nomination for Best Actress in a continuing Dramatic Role). Anita holds an MFA in Directing from York University, a Bachelor of Arts Honours in English and Drama from the University of Toronto and a diploma in Classical Acting from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in the UK.
