Riaz teaches mathematics in the School of Arts and Science, and is the acting chair of the school. After completing undergraduate studies in mathematics at McMaster University, Riaz completed graduate work at the University of Western Ontario and the University of Toronto in the fields of mathematics, mathematics education and the history of mathematics. He loves turning students on to mathematics, with its beauty, function and structures, and enjoys introducing them to topics and ideas they never imagined would be possible to study mathematically.
