The Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) is a network of 60,000 members that strive to build prosperity for businesses across Ontario by supporting and encouraging workforce development and inclusive economic growth. Working together with approximately 135 member chambers of commerce and boards of trade, OCC is known as the indispensable partner of business, committed to grow the competitive business climates across all industries.
The COVID-19 pandemic has presented unprecedented challenges not only for businesses, but also for workers in public health, safety and other front-line jobs. With these challenges in mind, OCC approached Seneca 360 about transforming their annual Ontario Business Achievement Awards into a virtual event that would highlight the importance of essential workers and their added responsibilities throughout the pandemic.
Tim Abbott, a professor at the School of Media, oversaw the work of two graduates from the Event & Media Production diploma program at Seneca. Amrit Brar took on responsibilities involving video editing and producing, while Adil Bedra provided technical support for remote filming and virtual event hosting. Eight episodes were produced, each putting a different spotlight on the efforts that our communities are making in these difficult times. The episodes were picked up by and aired on TLN at the end of 2020, receiving more than 200,000 views.
