Teaching play-based learning abroad

Teaching play based learning

A volunteer team from the School of Early Childhood Education recently travelled to Uganda and Rwanda for two weeks to provide professional development workshops.

The workshops focused on play-based learning and emergent curriculum, delivered to early years teachers and parents of young children in the Ntinda community on the outskirts of the Ugandan capital city of Kampala and in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda.

Seneca’s team included part-time Professors Terry Kelly and Nancy Mosey, Early Childhood Education Program Manager Jo Blay and Robin Matthew, a graduate from the Social Service Worker program.

During their visit, the group met with Dr. John Muyingo, the Minister of State for Higher Education in Uganda.
