A faculty-led program abroad is where intensive learning and travel intersect. You will join a group of students as you experience the world under the watchful eyes of a Seneca faculty member. This global opportunity is a great way to build or start your international experience.

Canada in a Global World: April 2020

The Gambia

The Gambia and Senegal, also known as Senegambia, is a dynamic destination for an intriguing, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a study abroad program in western Africa. As part of a new general education and Liberal Studies Option (LSO) course for winter 2020: Canada in a Global World: Citizenship, Migration and Belonging, students can travel to Senegambia for two weeks on a historical journey that will open their eyes to the beauty and natural wonders of the two countries on the tip of western Africa, and to the role this region played in the forced migration of millions of people to the Americas and beyond.

Andean Fashion: May 2020

Peru

Focusing on Pre-Columbian textile traditions as well as personal reflection on immersion in Andean culture, students will travel to Peru and into the Andean Mountains to explore one of the cradles of civilization. Working with local communities, students will learn about processes used and challenges faced to commercialize local products. Participation on this FLPA will lead to earning a program credit as well as a general elective credit.

Commerce & Culture: May to June 2020

South Korea

Eligible students will spend five weeks in Seoul, South Korea exploring Korean culture while taking two compressed courses that will apply towards their Seneca credential. The two courses are a program course (either Organizational Behaviour or Presentation Skills) taught by a Seneca faculty member and a Korean language and culture course taught by a faculty member from Konkuk University. The language and culture course will count as a Liberal Studies option credit.

Process Optimization of Beer Production: July 2020

Denmark

This two-week course is an exceptional experiential learning opportunity for CHY students. Students will learn about brewing processes and the chemical analyses of beer. Lectures will be based on theory and practical laboratory work and will be taught by professors from both Seneca and Business Academy Aarhus.

Progressive Web Apps: July 2019

Denmark

Eligible BSD and CPA students can participate in a new two-week pro option course in Denmark. Students will develop Progressive Web Apps that run on modern devices. Building upon web programming and agile development experience, teams of students will learn and integrate a number of technologies and features that enable app use across cultures and languages.

Italian Biotechnology Experience: May 2019

Italy

This two-week opportunity will introduce students to the plant biotechnology and cosmeceutical industries in Canada and Italy. Students will interact with Italian faculty and students while completing an independent research project in applied plant biotechnology.
