NEC's interactive technology
Donation of touch-screen digital displays enable students to study smarter

September 11, 2018

Leading global digital display solutions company, NEC, has donated two 65-inch interactive touch-screen displays (Model: E651-T), to be utilized by Seneca students in the Newnham Campus Library group study spaces, in order to enhance their learning experience.

The leading-edge monitors enable students to connect online, work collaboratively on group projects, and interact with the screen like they would any other sophisticated smart device. Previously, the library group study spaces were equipped with only whiteboards for use by occupants of the space.

Seneca’s Newnham Campus Library is a hub of student activity with annual student, faculty, staff and community traffic of 692,941 users. Meanwhile, the group study spaces accommodate 26,385 visitors, annually.

This innovative touch-screen technology will be standard at King Campus’s new Magna Hall building opening this fall and the new Centre for Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship or CITE building launching this January at Newnham.

“Students love the touch screens and have booked the group study spaces multiple times,” says Michelle Gravelle, Manager, Library Services. “The technology makes students’ work so much easier and enables them to connect their laptops for better group collaborations. NEC’s gift will truly enhance the student experience for Seneca Library users and help them to further advance their studies.”

NEC has a longstanding reputation for innovative visual technology and customer-focused solutions in a wide variety of markets, including education, retail, transportation, broadcast, enterprise, healthcare, houses of worship, and beyond. They have served as a vendor partner for Seneca almost a decade.

“NEC sees great value in its technology-based partnership with Seneca,” says Milenko Cepo, Senior Account Manager, NEC Display Solutions. “We are more than happy to give back to the student community and believe that in doing so, we are serving the next generation of industry professionals and technology-consumers that will fuel our continued business growth.”
