Leading global digital display solutions company, NEC, has donated two 65-inch interactive touch-screen displays (Model: E651-T), to be utilized by Seneca students in the Newnham Campus Library group study spaces, in order to enhance their learning experience.
The leading-edge monitors enable students to connect online, work collaboratively on group projects, and interact with the screen like they would any other sophisticated smart device. Previously, the library group study spaces were equipped with only whiteboards for use by occupants of the space.
Seneca’s Newnham Campus Library is a hub of student activity with annual student, faculty, staff and community traffic of 692,941 users. Meanwhile, the group study spaces accommodate 26,385 visitors, annually.
This innovative touch-screen technology will be standard at King Campus’s new Magna Hall building opening this fall and the new Centre for Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship or CITE building launching this January at Newnham.
“Students love the touch screens and have booked the group study spaces multiple times,” says Michelle Gravelle, Manager, Library Services. “The technology makes students’ work so much easier and enables them to connect their laptops for better group collaborations. NEC’s gift will truly enhance the student experience for Seneca Library users and help them to further advance their studies.”
