InStage virtual reality mock interview

July 9, 2020

Seneca’s Career Recharge, presented by TD, has partnered with HELIX venture InStage to offer participants the opportunity to watch a live virtual reality mock interview from home — free of charge.

In the most recent session, participants learned tips and best practices on interviewing from Karen Simpson, Senior Strategic Talent Acquisition Partner from TD. One of the key takeaways from Ms. Simpson’s seminar was that it can take up to 200 hours to get really good at a skill, and interviewing is no different.

Thanks to a $1-million grant from the TD Ready Challenge, Seneca’s Career Recharge offers a series of free workshops, events and mentorship opportunities to help mid-career professionals cope with an evolving workplace and keep pace with changes in technology.

Seneca students can watch similar demonstrations conducted using InStage technology by scheduling a virtual appointment with Seneca Works. Once back on campus, students can practise their interview skills and have them assessed in real time with InStage’s virtual reality headsets.

“So many Career Recharge participants are just beginning to explore where a new career could take them,” said Chris Dudley, Director of Entrepreneurship, HELIX. “Some register not knowing what to expect, and come away with new ideas and improved skills that will help them reach their next career goal.”
