A gift of securities is a great way for you to support Seneca and its students while offering you additional tax savings.

When you sell publicly listed securities such as stocks, bonds and mutual funds that have grown in value, you are required to pay capital gain tax. However, if you donate these securities directly to Seneca, you are exempt from the capital gain tax. In addition, you will receive a charitable donation receipt for the full value of the securities which is determined by its market closing price on the day the shares are received in the Seneca’s account.

To make a donation of securities, you may initiate a transfer from your broker to Seneca’s broker using our Donation of Securities Approval Form (PDF) and send us a copy by email at tan-ling.yeung@senecapolytechnic.ca or by fax to 905.477.4307.
