Important - campus update:
To enhance the student experience, all academic programs currently offered at Yorkgate Campus will be moved as of the Fall 2024 Term.
This program will be offered at King and Seneca@York Campuses as of the Fall 2024 Term.
Program Learning Outcomes
As a graduate, you will be prepared to reliably demonstrate the ability to:
- Recognize the legislative framework governing social service work and the social service worker role, and take into account the implications for professional responsibility and accountability
- Establish working relationships that adhere to professional standards, codes of ethics, relevant legislation, and agency guidelines
- Establish and maintain clear and appropriate boundaries between personal and professional relationships, in accordance with professional, legal, and ethical standards of practice for the well-being of self, co-workers, other professionals and with individuals and communities as service users
- Promote individual and community strengths and the right to self-determination when engaging in processes of collaboration, consultation, and advocacy
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, and community partners.
- Work collaboratively as a member of a team, program partnership, and/or interdisciplinary group including indigenous elders, knowledge holders* and helpers* as appropriate
- Recognize the complexity of case management and the need to involve the skills of inter-disciplinary team members where appropriate
- Consult and collaborate with relevant partners to ensure an integrated understanding of the individual's situation and to improve quality of services and access to resources
