Sun-Kyung (Sunny) Yi is the Program Co-ordinator and a Professor of Seneca Polytechnic’s Documentary Filmmaking Institute (DFI) and Documentary Non-Fiction Media (DNM) programs and Faculty Lead for the Seneca Film Institute.
As an award-winning independent documentary filmmaker and journalist, her documentaries have premiered at film festivals including Hot Docs, New York Film Festival, Montreal Film Festival and San Francisco Film Festival, and have been broadcasted worldwide on networks including CBC, TVO, American Movie Classics (AMC), National Geographic Channel and the Sundance Channel. As a journalist, Ms. Yi has written for major Canadian newspapers and held various roles at both CBC TV and CBC Radio. She was the first Canadian journalist to gain unprecedented access to North Korea. She is currently collaborating with the Royal Canadian Geographic Society on several documentary projects.
