Twenty-one accelerating HELIXers have received over $91,000 in HELIX Catalyst Fund micro grants. This funding allows HELIX entrepreneurs at any stage of their business development — from validating their idea to launching and scaling.
This funding has been used for a range of venture development activities, including building a website, launching products, purchasing raw materials, advertising new products or conducting market testing.
Here are the October 2022 HELIX Catalyst Fund recipients:
Beagle Scientific supports the biologics industry through research activities in protein design and function in addition to consulting and writing services.
Funding goal: to attend the Antibody Engineering & Therapeutics conference and showcase work, network and to learn about emerging issues faced in antibody development.
HELIX Catalyst Fund amount: $3,600
Hot Choco Chill offers a unique take on ice cream, using natural ingredients like honey, saffron, rosewater, turmeric, ginger and pepper. This unique recipe gives consumers a feeling of warmth, joy and relaxation and the satisfaction of making a healthier choice when it comes to dessert.
Funding goal: Conduct a sampling using 520 tasters in Markham.
HELIX Catalyst Fund amount: $4,886
HOLA teaches Spanish in an innovative open learning method that includes adapting to kids’ learning styles, and bringing in cultural elements to every class.
Funding goal: develop and implement an e-learning platform, increase lessons and facilitators and create a marketing campaign.
HELIX Catalyst Fund amount: $5,000
SharedStories aims to reduce senior loneliness and social isolation by offering skills-based writing workshops that allow participants to connect with their personal stories and with others in meaningful and sustainable ways.
Funding goal: Create a series of digital modules that would allow participants to register online and follow the writing workshops and activities remotely at their own pace through a series of pre-recorded guided writing activities.
