Breaking Barriers: Generous Donation Empowers Opticianry Students at Seneca

Seneca Polytechnic’s Opticianry program is soaring to new heights with more than 240 full and part-time students, strong industry partnerships, and unparalleled experiential learning opportunities. Recently, Seneca received a game-changing donation that will support financial aid for students in the Opticianry program, removing barriers and unlocking opportunities for aspiring opticians.

Financial aid is a critical component of education, especially for students pursuing specialized fields like Opticianry. The costs of tuition, textbooks, equipment, and other related expenses can be significant, making it challenging for some students to achieve their career goals. However, with this donation, students will have access to the resources they need to thrive.

Thanks to the generous contribution from Theodore & Pringle Optical by Loblaw Inc., every year, two students will receive a $2,500 award. This will not only alleviate their financial burdens but also allow them to focus on their studies and hands-on experiences without worrying about financial limitations.

Teena Bartley, Director of Professional Services from Theodore & Pringle Optical explains, “We look forward to supporting the next generation of Opticianry students by immersing them in a fast-paced, retail learning environment that focuses on care, ownership, respect and excellence while helping Canadians live life well.”

This donation will have a ripple effect on the broader community, contributing to the growth and development of the Opticianry industry in Canada. As students complete their studies and enter the workforce, they will bring their expertise and services to benefit the patients they serve.

Seneca's Opticianry program is making significant strides in creating a brighter future for aspiring opticians, and with this generous donation, their sights are set even higher.
