Virtual Celebration Tool Kit

You are officially a Seneca graduate. Now it’s time to celebrate!

We’ve prepared this resource to help you host a virtual celebration with family and friends far and wide.

Smaller gatherings provide a better opportunity to connect with your guests.

There are many virtual event and meeting platforms to choose from. When making your selection, make sure to consider what resources your guests are able to easily access.

Decorate your home or find the perfect outdoor venue. The possibilities are endless.

Make sure you include key information with your guests such as:

• event start and end time
• the link to join the event
• additional links to any other apps guests will use during your event
• important steps or instructions
• an event agenda

We have created a playlist of 50 songs to help put you and your celebration squad in the mood. Listen to the playlist on Spotify.

As the event host, you should log in at least 15 to 30 minutes before the scheduled start time for your event. This will allow you to complete a technical check to ensure that everything is working properly.

Connecting and chatting with your guests may be the sole focus of your event. If you would like to incorporate games or activities, here are some suggestions:

• Kahoot or Menti
• Jeopardy
• Bingo
• Backyard
• Virtual jigsaw puzzle
• Photo montage slide show or video presentation

Show off your Seneca pride with the #SenecaGrad background collection. Choose from three fun designs to enhance your virtual celebration when using MS Teams, Webex or Zoom. All backgrounds are compatible with desktop and mobile devices.

Save the desired #SenecaGrad virtual background(s) on your device.

1. When you are in a Microsoft Teams call, select the “…” on the meeting settings bar
2. Select "Apply background effects" followed by “+ Add new” in the background settings pane
3. Locate and select the desired #SenedaGrad virtual background on your device
4. Either preview or select apply to enable your background.

1. Select the “Audio & Video” menu, then select “Change Virtual Background” 
2. Select the “+” button in the grid; if a download alert pop-up appears, select “Download”  
3. Locate and select the desired #SenecaGrad virtual background on your device 
4. Check the preview window to ensure the virtual background appears. Select the “Apply” button to enable your background. 

1. In a Zoom meeting, select the upward arrow next to “Start/Stop Video”
2. Select “Choose Virtual Background...”, then select “+ Add image”
3. If prompted, select “Download” to download the package for virtual background without a green screen
4. Locate and select the desired #SenecaGrad virtual background on your device. Close the settings window to enable your background.
