Canada Summer Jobs and Other Funding Opportunities

Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ)

Canada Summer Jobs is a program under the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy. The program aims to provide flexible and holistic services to help all young Canadians develop their skills and gain paid work experience to successfully transition into the labour market.

The program provides wage subsidies to employers from not-for-profit organizations, the public sector and private sector organizations with 50 or fewer full-time employees to create quality summer work experiences for young people aged 15 to 30 years.

  • Non-profit employers may be able to receive funding for up to 100 per cent of the provincial or territorial adult minimum hourly wage and all associated Mandatory Employment Related Costs (MERCs)
  • Public and private sector employers may be eligible to receive funding for up to 50 per cent of the provincial or territorial minimum hourly wage. Public or private sector employers are not eligible to receive reimbursement for MERCs

Other Funding Opportunities:

Scientific Research & Experimental Development Program

The Scientific Research & Experimental Development (SR&ED) program is a federal tax incentive program designed to encourage Canadian businesses to conduct research and development in Canada. Eligible companies may deduct SR&ED expenditures from their income for tax purposes and receive a SR&ED investment tax credit. A Canadian-controlled private corporation may be eligible to earn a refundable ITC of 35 per cent on qualified expenditures, up to a maximum of $3 million.

ASPIRE focuses on attracting the next generation of talent by uncovering the diverse, innovative nature of financial services for students and supporting them to access opportunities in this sector. Though ASPIRE does not offer wage subsidies, it does provide resources to assist employers and students.
