Throughout the years, Shannon has accomplished a number of personal goals: earning a Bachelor of Religious Education, Bachelor of Education and a Master of Education through various educational institutions. These qualifications, along with several diplomas and certifications ranging from Business Management Studies to Designing Curriculum, along with many years of work experience, have prepared Shannon to work as a full-time Professor at Seneca. Her student-centered approach to education is based on the work of Carl Rogers (1902–1987). Students are empowered to learn in a safe environment that demonstrates empathy, unconditional positive regard and acceptance thereby promoting intellectual, emotional and spiritual growth leading to discovery and fulfilment.
