In 60 seconds, students can capture all necessary measuring parameters thanks to a donation from ZEISS.

Mobile centration is the new way to capture a patient’s individual position of wear parameters. Thanks to a generous donation from ZEISS, their i.Terminal mobile centration system for iPad gathers and calculates basic fitting parameters in a few seconds. The i.Terminal measures monocular interpupillary distances, fitting heights, vertex distance, pantoscopic angle and frame wrap. Because everyone's eyes are different, it is important to ensure that the contact lenses you wear are comfortable. And Seneca Opticianry students are now able to put this into practice.

“We know the value of hands-on learning,” explains Andrea Brown, Business Development Agent, Zeiss Vision Care Canada. “Technology has come such a long way in our industry, and we want Seneca students to have every opportunity possible to immerse themselves in it before they get out into the world of work.”

These new technologies are so important to a student's education - students need to touch, feel and assess eyewear products before they start working with patients. As Shan Khan, Seneca Opticianry professor and grad, points out, “Working with industry standard equipment and products can be a major difference-maker for those early in their career.”
