Nurses play a vital role in our healthcare system. They provide hands-on care and emotional support to patients and their families and provide important public health guidance and advice. When we are sick, nurses care for us, our children, parents and other loved ones.
At a time when the role of nurses is more important than ever, we simply don’t have enough trained nurses. This situation threatens to worsen over the next decade, largely due to burnout. Action needs to be taken to ensure our health care system can provide the level of care we need now and in the future.
Last fall, Seneca received its largest donation in history from the Nanji Family Foundation. This transformative gift will support thousands of Seneca students for years to come and help address the ongoing shortage of nurses in Ontario’s health care system.

At Seneca, we know that 25 per cent of all students who leave us before completing their studies do so because of financial challenges. For nursing students, every student lost is a potential new nurse who is desperately needed to deliver critical health services.
