Learning practical, professional skills. Being challenged academically. Gaining exposure to the workplace before graduation.

These are the essential elements of a polytechnic education.
This is Seneca Polytechnic.

As we embark on our new Strategic Plan – The Next – we are providing an explicit commitment to students that we will provide them with the polytechnic experience. One that offers them a blend of the best of college and university approaches to learning. One that offers them the opportunity for a seamless transition from education to employment.

That’s why we’ve decided to add “Polytechnic” to our name. We think Seneca Polytechnic best captures our comprehensive and distinct approach to postsecondary education.

Seneca co-founded Polytechnics Canada 20+ years ago

Polytechnic learning isn’t a new direction for Seneca. In fact, we were a co-founder of Polytechnics Canada more than 20 years ago.

PolytechnicsCanada.ca defines polytechnics as:

“… postsecondary institutions that offer advanced technical education. The polytechnic model is hands-on and industry-responsive. Programs encourage learning by doing, developing the practical skills and competencies required in today’s workplaces and giving our graduates a leg-up in the labour market. Distinct among Canada’s postsecondary pathways, polytechnics focus on applied, industry-aligned learning — with real-world experience built into the curriculum. The result is highly employable graduates who are ready to hit the ground running with the skills employers demand.”

Welcome to Seneca Polytechnic.

We lead the way in polytechnic opportunities

We offer a vast breadth of learning opportunities, including degrees, diplomas and certificates in niche, emerging and applied fields. We were the first college to offer a degree in Ontario and we are now the first to co-deliver a master’s degree with our partner Niagara University, which is delivering its programs on a Seneca campus.

In today’s ever-evolving world, higher education must keep pace with the speed of industry. New careers are being invented every day. By providing the breadth of learning opportunities as a polytechnic, Seneca can pivot quickly to meet the changing needs of students, employers and the community.

Seneca Polytechnic’s promise is education without boundaries – an education that delivers career- and world-ready graduates for the workplaces of today and tomorrow.

Seneca Polytechnic is ready for The Next.
