Ronald Tam Fashion Arts
"With excellent focus on various disciplines within fashion design, I was able to explore my creativity each semester; crafting garments that I am still proud of today."
Growing up in Hong Kong, Ronald relocated to Toronto in 2006, first completing a business degree before deciding to pursue fashion as a creative career path at Seneca. With no prior fashion background, Ronald credits Seneca’s Fashion Arts program for turning him into a well-rounded and capable fashion designer. In 2014, he created the street wear brand VANDAL that illustrates a hybrid of street-aesthetics and classic tailoring. Referencing kimono-esque looks, this collection draws inspiration from Ronald’s experiences growing up in Hong Kong to deliver street-ready silhouettes with a western influence. VANDAL was recently shown as part of Seneca’s RED: Emerging Designer Showcase at World MasterCard Fashion Week (WMCFW) 2015. The collection’s fusion of tailoring with traditional samurai fare was praised as impressive by media. Seneca’s RED: Emerging Designer Showcase garnered national attention by the Globe & Mail and was recognized as one of the top 5 shows of WMCFW 2015.
