Barbara Caines Journalism
Barbara was Canada's first female sportscaster to host a daily program and the country’s first female sports director. She has covered a number of major sporting events including the Olympics, World Series, Stanley Cup and the Grey Cup. Barbara was also the first female to cover major league baseball’s spring training and has produced, written and hosted a number of one-hour sports specials. Barbara has won several awards for her reportage, hosting and documentaries. The Detroit Free Press named her one of the top 10 sportscasters/reporters in the U.S. for her coverage of the Detroit Red Wings hockey player Bob Probert, and in 2000 Harvard University named her the best investigative health journalist. Barbara holds a degree from the University of Western Ontario.
