 Janet Beed new Chair of Seneca's Board of Governors

Janet Beed is currently an independent practitioner and advisor with a focus on building organizational capacity, implementing strategic change and maximizing the innovation agenda in health care. Previously, she held the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of the Markham Stouffville Hospital, a community hospital serving more than 340,000 people in York Region. She has held a number of leadership roles including Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer, University Health Network, Toronto General Hospital; Vice-President of Organizational Development and Patient Care Programs at the Princess Margaret Hospital/Ontario Cancer Institute; and several senior positions at the Hospital for Sick Children.

Ms. Beed was also a Partner in the Global Consulting Practice of Deloitte working in the energy and manufacturing industries with a focus on change management. She has board experience in the not-for-profit and public sectors and currently sits on the boards of the Canadian Institute for Health Information and ventureLAB and is an IHPME fellow at the University of Toronto. She is an invited speaker and conference participant, particularly in the areas of health care strategy and caregiver support.

A graduate of Dalhousie University and the University of Toronto, Ms. Beed holds a Master of Nursing degree.

Ms. Beed joined Seneca’s Board of Governors on Sept. 1, 2014.
